Arduino – MIDI – piezo sensors – Garage Band

Eventually, I’ll document here a drum kit that my newphew Aviv and I built using the elements in the title.

For now, I want to record a couple of thoughts that might be useful later:

Here is a good straight forward video about soldering leads onto piezo discs
to make contact mics and pickups. It may prove a useful reference in
teaching beginners this delicate task.

Serial-MIDI Converter from SpikenzieLabs
This software runs on your computer (not Arduino) and converts the serial messages from the Arduino into MIDI messages. Most importantly, it creates a virtual MIDI port that can be connected to GarageBand or any other synthesizer (or program) that uses MIDI:
