Getting Started in 3 steps

If you are new and overwhelmed by all the information available, I recommend you try the following 3 steps:

1. Join Dorkbot. If there is a Dorkbot near you, join the local mailing list and go to the meetings. If there is not a Dorkbot near you, join the mailing list of one of the active local groups, such as the San Francisco group. Get to know people, participate, and ask questions, either in person or on the list.

2. Visit Lady Ada’s website for some of the best tutorials and advice available on the Internet. Topics include basic electronics, tools and parts selection and acquisition, and Arduino material.

3. Visit the Noisebridge hacker space, in person if you are in the San Francisco Bay Area, via their email list otherwise. You will find knowledgeable people there almost any time of the day or night who will be more than happy to share their knowledge with you. Become a member or donate to them to support their wonderful work. If you are not local, see if there is a hacker space near you, or create one!
